A tight bakers dozen (11) of the best to keep you going ’til lunch…
1 In the entries for each of the podcasts, it might be best to replace the term ‘participating artists’ with ‘musicians’ or ‘players’ (musicians don’t often calls themselves artists: that’s journalists/press speak!) - not essential but more comfortable and less ostentatious perhaps?
2 We haven’t listed who plays what on each podcast, so I suggest we replace the names with the following for clarity:
Sept 07 (names of musicians are currently wrong on the site anyway) should read: Bruce Coates, Paul Dunmall (saxophones); Mike Hurley (piano); Trevor Lines (bass); Mark Sanders (drums and percussion).
Oct 07 - Bruce Coates (saxophones); Misterlee (feedback and electronics); Mick Oxtoby (violin); John Richards (electronics); Mark Sanders (drums and percussion); Jamie Smith (guitar).
Nov 07 - Bruce Coates, Paul Dunmall (saxophones); Trevor Lines (bass); Han Earl-Park, Jamie Smith (guitars).
Jan 08 - Bruce Coates (saxophones); Trevor Lines (bass); Mark Sanders (drums and percussion), Jamie Smith (guitar).
The Feb and March 08 line-ups are on a wordpad doc in with the mp3s.
3 FrImp Jan 08 is incorrectly listed as Jan 07 in the left hand Podcast menu on the main page. Sept 07 is incorrectly listed at Sept 08. However, both are correct on the podcast page. Oops.
4 We need to add a link for Chris Trent (podcast engineer) website http://www.calundronius.co.uk I think it should go in the podcast section, but it’s up to you.
5 We could do with giving the podcast duration info (both sets) for each podcast - people like to know they’re getting a lot for their buck! It’s encoded as part of the mp3 so if you hover your mouse over the file you’ll see it.
6 There are some new names to be added to the search bar. These people feature in the podcast section but are not currently mentioned on the home page.
Mike Hurley
Misterlee
Mick Oxtoby
Trevor Lines
Han Earl-Park
7 The term ‘profiles’ is used in the top menu and ‘biographies’ is used in the side menu. I think they should both be called ‘profiles’ (it’s a bit funkier than biography. Plus our info is hardly ‘this is your life’).
8 The free live recording of Myself and Misterlee at Luminaire is great where it is, but it needs a photo (I’ve emailed you one you can use in an email titled podcast update, sent on 31 march 08). Also, it doesn’t appear if you search Misterlee or Jamie smith. Any chance we could make it searchable? It’s such a good recording and it will certainly be popular with Misterlee fans (of which there are many).
9 In ‘Contact us’ it says you can phone or post stuff to us but there is no number/address. Best just to leave the email up and remove the options to phone/post unless you really want to put your number/address online!
10 In ‘rare recordings’ you can list Dunmalls Solo Bagpipes 2 as it it now unavailable on CD. I’ll have more soon, but it’s a start!
11 When you use the ‘find albums by’ function the words ‘Preview Double-Click triangular play button to listen to a preview…’ appear at the end of the album listing text. I am viewing through Mozzilla and it still does it. It’s not a big problem, but I notice it every time and it doesn’t look as classy as the rest of the site. Any way of stopping it?
If anyone has any other comments/suggestions regarding the site then please submit them here. We’re mad for them.

Hi Jamie,
1 - done
2 - done
3 - done
4 - done
5 - This is very important IMHO. We should do this for every download really. Again not a quick job by any means. will get round to it as soon as I have time, perhaps later this weekend or early next week.
6,7 The menus are getting out of control at the moment. I will spend some time unifying them but as you know, they are not all dynamically generated, and there are about five different places that I need to update. I will spend some time getting this all sorted out soon.
8 - Can’t find image, sorry. Can you upload the image via admin and post image name. I will add then add the image to the relevant place.
9 - done
10 - done
11 - the search for ONLY searches albums, not the whole site. This is a problem but is not easily rectified. The best solution would be to use a Google site search, since their search capability is unparralleled in bespoke site search tools. This is not a quick fix.

Remaining Items (For Clarity)
11 When you use the ‘find albums by’ function the words ‘Preview Double-Click triangular play button to listen to a preview…’ appear at the end of the album listing text. I am viewing through Mozzilla and it still does it. It’s not a big problem, but I notice it every time and it doesn’t look as classy as the rest of the site. Any way of stopping it? (Est. 3 hours - seems easy but isn’t)

Also, it doesn’t appear if you search Misterlee or Jamie smith. Any chance we could make it searchable? It’s such a good recording and it will certainly be popular with Misterlee fans (of which there are many). (Est. 5 mins if I had the image)
7 The term ‘profiles’ is used in the top menu and ‘biographies’ is used in the side menu. I think they should both be called ‘profiles’ (it’s a bit funkier than biography. Plus our info is hardly ‘this is your life’). (Est 1 hour, because of the complexity of the multiple headers for different sections)

(Estimate 1 hour)
Total time estimated: 6 hours (probably nearer 4) but it will be an entire evening. Will get done ASAP. Probably this weekend.
Speak soon,
Paul.

Paul,
looking good.
RE: point 3 FrImp Jan 08 is incorrectly listed as Jan 07 in the left hand menu on the home page. Sept 07 is incorrectly listed at Sept 08. However, both are correct on the podcast page. Oops.
You have listed this as done but it’s still wrong. Sorry to be a pain.
Thanks for giving an estimated completion time. Stick the new podcasts up too if you have time, then we’re bang up to date.
I’ll upload the misterlee image you can’t find today.
Cheers,
Jamie

Image Up.
Have also added ’site documents’ to the admin menu, so that you can now edit any of the site plain content pages.
NOTE: Be careful not to interfere with the Player code. The WYSIWYG does not recognise it so it leaves it as blank on the edit screen under the ‘play now’ text. Just do not edit or touch the page on or around that link, or if you do, do so with care. I can always repair and breaks but it is a bit of a pain of a task.
About the podcasts, that issue will be corrected along with the other menu stuff. You are right I did it wrongly, and certainly not a pain reporting errors, please do!
Will fix as soon as I can.

Having problems uploading some of the bigger zip files. My connection times out after about half an hour, but upload takes longer than that. I shall put them onto a disc and upload them over a faster connection as soon as I can. Will let you know when I manage it.
This will also apply to the new podcasts too, so this will take a few days at least.

Hey!
Would be grateful if you could shift the hyphen in my name (should be “Han-earl Park” not “Han Earl-Park”).
Thanks!
April 18th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
Hi Han-earl Park and welcome to the site.
I apologise about that. Have fixed it now. Sorry. Thank you for letting us know.
Paul.

Not a problem; no one knows where to put that damn hyphen anyway (I blame my parents
Keep up the good work!

Just a small suggestion… You might want to tag the mp3 files (especially free ones like ‘A Little Bit Previous’) with “frimp.co.uk”. Free mp3s can float around the web, get sent around, so anything that re-directs traffic back to the source (and brings in curious/interested listeners) is probably a good thing.
My two cents.
April 28th, 2008 at 2:50 pm
Paul,
any chance of getting the podcasts uploaded soon? Feb and March 08 appear when you search Bruce Coates but not in the podcast window or home page and all of them are currently out of stock. I can help upload them if you like. Send me an email with how to and I’ll get onto it.
Jamie
April 29th, 2008 at 2:13 am
Hi Han-Earl, that is a really good suggestion, thank you. I shall see what Jamie thinks.
@Jamie - What do you think about that suggestion? About the downloads. I will call you tomorrow but I have been trying, I REALLY have. I marked them as out-of-stock because I didn’t want anyone to suffer like Ian did. He is still waiting. Even marking them out of stock took ages because as digital products they are not allowed to be marked as out of stock! (I didnt think you could upload them but if you can then absolutely - please could you.)
At least after all this, the process should be ‘quite’ smooth and quick!
Paul.

Hi again,
There are now only two podcasts that are unavailable. I will mail the ftp details through now.
May 12th, 2008 at 11:54 am
Paul,
as you might have gathered, I’ve had not time to FTP anything this past week or so. I’m gathering my strength for a push on the (50 0r so) Duns Ltd Edition CDs that need mp3ing and other stuff to, so maybe I’ll get a chance to do it this week.
Give me a call and we’ll see if we can get together in the week and form a plan!
Jamie
